Leprechaun (1993) is an excellent horror flick that will not let you down

It's been said that Leprechaun is one of the all-time great "bad" horror movies. All of it from the ridiculous narrative to the over-the-top acting to the cringe-worthy visual effects is a disaster. It's a mystery how it all works, but the end result is an enjoyable and engaging movie. Jennifer Aniston, in her cinematic debut, fares surprisingly well, and Warwick Davis is fantastic as the leprechaun. Leprechaun is a great film to see if you like cheesy horror flicks. Avoid going in with the expectation of being afraid, since this film is more likely to make you chuckle than scream.

Warwick Davis' iconic depiction of an enraged leprechaun has entered the realm of urban legend. As the video progresses, the leprechaun begins to suspect that a human family has taken his pot of gold. He decides to go on a quest for them and uses all of his wits and might to do so. In the meanwhile, the family is franticly looking for the gold so they may appease the leprechaun and avoid any damage. Leprechaun is one of the finest horror movies of all time because to Davis's terrifying and memorable performance.

Dan O'Grady returns to North Dakota after visiting his hometown Ireland in 1983. After burying the treasure, O'Grady discovers that the leprechaun killed his wife. O'Grady catches the leprechaun with a four-leaf clover. He died before he could burn him.

In 1983, Dan O'Grady traveled to Ireland, the country of his origin, and while there, he abducted a leprechaun and stole the pot of gold that he was guarding. He then returned to his home in North Dakota. After O'Grady buried the wealth, he came to the conclusion that the evil leprechaun had followed him back to his house and murdered his wife. With the use of a clover with four leaves, O'Grady is able to control the leprechaun's skills and confine him inside a container. He had a stroke just in time to stop him from setting him on fire.

Ten years later, J. D. Redding rents the O'Grady farmhouse for the summer with his teenage daughter Tory. The farmhouse is being repainted with the assistance of contract employees Nathan Murphy, his 10-year-old brother Alex, and their dimwitted pal Ozzie Jones. Ozzie hears the leprechaun's cries for assistance while searching the basement and misidentifies him as a little kid. He releases the leprechaun by removing the old four-leaf clover from the carton. The leprechaun reveals to Ozzie that he is an Irish shoemaker who traveled to America in search of his fortune. After failing to persuade the others that he had seen a leprechaun, Ozzie sees a rainbow and pursues it in the hope of coming across a pot of riches. Alex follows him out of concern that Ozzie would harm himself. Before Ozzie, a bag containing 100 gold coins emerges by magic. They hide the gold in an ancient well after Ozzie checks it and unintentionally eats a coin, expecting to heal Ozzie's brain by doing so.

J. D. falls into a trap when a leprechaun on a farm pretends to be a cat and bites his hand. After Tory and others take him to the hospital, he rides a tricycle. When Alex and Ozzie visit a pawn shop to inspect the gold's purity, the leprechaun kills the proprietor, Joe, for stealing his gold and polishes his shoes before departing. On his way home, the leprechaun constructs a go-kart and gets pulled up for speeding. The leprechaun murders the police officer in the woods. Leprechaun returns to the farm and seeks for his prize while polishing shoes. The group returns to the farm after dropping off J.D. When Nathan examines the plundered house, a leprechaun-set bear trap injures him. Outside, they beat the leprechaun with rocks and clubs.

When a gun is found in the house, the leprechaun is shot repeatedly. They attempt to depart, but the leprechaun has wrecked the truck's engine. The leprechaun terrorizes the group until Ozzie reveals he and Alex found the treasure. Tory retrieves the satchel and gives it to the leprechaun. They head to the hospital, expecting the worst. As he checks his fortune, the leprechaun finds he's missing Ozzie's final cent. Ozzie tells them that O'Grady had a stroke and was taken to a nursing home. By throwing dirty shoes at the leprechaun, the group diverts his attention, and he's obliged to shine them as Tory drives away. Tory goes to the home to kill the leprechaun.

The leprechaun assumes the identity of O'Grady in the nursing home. As Tory flees, the leprechaun tosses O'Grady's bleeding body down the elevator shaft after having followed him to an elevator. Before passing away, O'Grady advises her that the only way to kill the leprechaun is with a four-leaf clover, which grows in plenty outside the property. Tory returns to the farmhouse in search of a clover, but she is attacked by the leprechaun and rescued by Nathan and Ozzie. The leprechaun is gravely injured while trying to retrieve the last gold coin, which Ozzie admits to consuming. Alex takes a four-leaf clover uncovered by Tory, connects it to a piece of chewing gum, and shoots it into the leprechaun's mouth, causing him to evaporate before he can (click link) kill Ozzie. Despite plunging down the well, the leprechaun's skeleton emerges and proclaims, "I want my gold." After Nathan pushes the leprechaun back into the well, he ignites both artifacts with gasoline. Tory is reconciled with her father, marries Nathan, and has a child when the police arrive. While the cops explore the well's debris, the leprechaun says he won't stop until he recovers every last piece of his fortune.

Several sequences had to be re-shot as the producers requested that the picture be made gorier to appeal to older viewers.

It's well-known that George Lucas had a role in casting Warwick Davis in Willow. What's less well-known is the reason why. According to reports, Davis was under contract with Lucas and couldn't feature in the film without the director's permission. As a consequence, he was granted a "special thanks" credit at the conclusion of the film. This little-known truth makes the movie much more appealing for horror movie enthusiasts.
